about

This was another of the songs recorded for the "Fibbo Not Xi" EP.

It was an experiment in run on sentences and of a little different song writing style than I had ever really tried before.

I let a few friends listen to it while I was in the mixing process and they pointed out a most unfortunate coincidence. In the chorus, there is a line that says "And I'm sure we need you here", and my friend pointed out to me that it sounded like I was saying "Chewie needs you here." Go ahead... listen. It really does. It cracks me up now, but at the time it was a little hard to hear as I had just poured hours and hours into trying to record and mix the song!

Another unfortunate "coincidence" was realized years later... Once, in the car I was listening to old demos and singing along, generally having a nice time. I got to the end of this song, during the part where I repeat "The sharpened end of their pretend advocacy" and some synapses in my brain connected... I started singing "Everything's better, down where it's wetter, Under the sea." Go ahead, try that one too... I'll wait...

The day that you realize that you've sub-consciously stolen a bar from a Disney song is a bad day indeed...

This song was doomed from the start! Enjoy!

lyrics

Harriet lies and fakes a cough.
She's turned her conscious off and slept in
A home, that she calls home sweet home.
It's where she hangs her hat and heartache
Brings her pain. The echoes ring
Of a long sigh of disbelief; of
Telltale grief. The exhaled air brings no relief
Heavy metals line her walls.
Expectation falls into a different category.

The disappointment calls her name.
It's shared her deepest shame,
Her deepest fear of being solo
She can't hear herself think of
Grabbing her last drink it will be her last breath
Inhaled into lungs that never knew how
To truly take in the atmosphere

And, I'm sure we need you here.
I'm sure we need you here.
You think you're only notching someone's belt
And they've never felt, the sharpened end
Of their pretend advocacy.
